NDP NAMES NEW HOME FOR DICK’S SPORTING GOODS MIDWEST CUP
(January 15, 2010)

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Midwest Cup, an official qualifying tournament of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions, has announced that this year’s event will be held in St. Louis, Missouri at Sportport of Maryland Heights.

“We are thrilled to have found a tremendous host venue and city for the Dick’s Sporting Goods Midwest Cup,” said Brian Tatum, Director of Operations for NDP Lacrosse. “St. Louis has been on our radar for several years, as the lacrosse population in the city has enjoyed tremendous growth in that timeframe. Sportport is one of the nation’s premier venues, and is in close proximity to a full slate of other activities for players while they are not on the fields.”

The Gateway City-based tournament will feature top teams from across the region, and will be held on June 12-13, 2010. Winners of the high school and U15 divisions will earn bids to compete for the national championship at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions at year’s end.

NDP Lacrosse, owner and operator of the qualifying event and the national championship, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Arlington, Texas-based 3v3 WORLD SOCCER Tour to create the St. Louis Sports Jam, a multi-sport event that is believed to be the first of its kind.

“The concept of a multi-sport tour stop promises to be one of the highlights of the year for our company,” said Adam Germek, VP of Sales and Partnerships for the 3v3 WORLD SOCCER Tour. “NDP has a tremendous reputation in the lacrosse community for hosting outstanding tournaments. Ultimately, we will add more and more sports to this event and create the ultimate multi-sport festival.”

“Since the first tournament we ever hosted back in 2005, we have prioritized the experience of the participants – the players and coaches,” said Josh Gross, NDP’s manager of marketing & PR. “This unique opportunity will equate to an abundance of activities for lacrosse and soccer players alike. Put simply, it means more fun for everyone.”

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Midwest Cup is open to youth and high school-aged teams of all skill levels.
